Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) holds a distinctive position in Romania as the only university fully dedicated to civil engineering and related fields. With historical roots linked to the School for Land Surveyors and the School of Bridges, Roads and Mines, UTCB has a long academic tradition and a strong contribution to engineering education, research and professional practice. The university provides education at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels and supports applied research in areas such as civil engineering, building services, environmental engineering, infrastructure, seismic safety and energy performance of buildings.
The Faculty of Building Services Engineering is an academic and research unit focused on building services, indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, renewable energy systems and sustainable building technologies. Its research activities are strongly connected to practical engineering challenges, including HVAC systems, building energy performance, experimental monitoring, numerical modelling, CFD analysis, life cycle assessment and the integration of low-carbon solutions in buildings. This expertise supports the development of high-performance, resilient and sustainable built environments.
The key persons responsible for the project at UTCB are Tiberiu Catalina, project manager, Cătălin Teodosiu, senior researcher responsible for CFD studies, and Angel Dogeanu, senior researcher responsible for experimental studies. The team also includes Iosif Ilieș, Vlad Ovidiu Leonard and Ahmad Hamze, junior researchers responsible for Life Cycle Assessment activities. The UTCB team is involved throughout the project, from concept development and experimental planning, to mock-up design, laboratory and in-situ measurements, CFD modelling, building performance analysis and LCA-based sustainability assessment.
